Diplodocus was one of the longest dinosaurs ever discovered, measuring up to 90 feet (27 meters) in length! That's longer than two school buses! 🚌🚌
Despite their enormous size, Diplodocus dinosaurs had relatively small heads, only about 2 feet (0.6 meters) long. They needed small heads to balance their long necks. 🦖🧠
The long neck of a Diplodocus had about 15 vertebrae, allowing it to reach high into trees for food. It could eat leaves from trees as tall as a four-story building! 🌳🏢
Diplodocus lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago, sharing the Earth with other giants like Stegosaurus and Allosaurus. 🌍🕰️
The tail of a Diplodocus could be used like a whip, possibly to defend against predators or to communicate with other dinosaurs. The tail could be as long as 45 feet (13.7 meters)! 🦕🥋
Fossils of Diplodocus have been found in the western United States, particularly in Wyoming and Colorado, in areas that were once lush forests. 🦴🇺🇸
